Real Madrid team news

The main fitness focus for Madrid concerns Vinicius Junior, who missed the last game against Atletico Madrid due to a neck issue. Los Blancos will be desperate for the Brazilian to shake off the issue in time to feature.

Ancelotti must do without long-term absentees Eder Militao, Thibaut Courtois and David Alaba, while there is also doubt around Eduardo Camavinga and Antonio Rudiger. The latter should be back after suffering a knock and missing out against Atletico, while Camavinga’s knee issue will have to be assessed.

The game hasn’t come at a great time for Girona, who are without the suspended Daley Blind and Yangel Herrera. Toni Villa, Joel Roca and David Lopez will all miss out as they continue to work back from injuries.

Juan Carlos may be able to shake off the issue he has, but Michel will have to work out how to replace two important players in Blind and Herrera. Jhon Solis may come into midfield, while the young Arnau Martinez could replace the experienced Blind at the back.

Real Madrid vs Girona score prediction

Neutrals will be keenly watching this match unfold on Saturday and plenty will be cheering for Girona against established giants Madrid. A victory for the visitors would certainly make the title race even more exciting.

However, Los Blancos have dropped points in just two of their home games in front of their own fans so far this season. Add in the quality and experience Girona will be missing in Blind and Herrera and it seems likely Madrid will extend their lead at the top of the table.

Prediction: Real Madrid 2-1 Girona
